Au Pair Couples - Information for Families

Recently, there has been more interest from families in requesting au pair couples to work together.

Couples are sought by families with large properties and/or small businesses who need more than 25 hours work, where the female does the usual au pair duties of childcare and housework whereas the male will undertake other duties such as driving, gardening, heavier housework and small DIY jobs.

Couples who apply are usually in a serious long term relationship and are keen to work together as au pairs.  Usually one of the couple will have stronger English than the other, but all are able to converse in English at a minimum of a basic level.  Because of their desire to be together, couples are flexible in the location where they are placed, and are quite happy to be in the countryside.  Furthermore, because there are two of them, the inevitable homesickness is not an issue.  Families would also benefit from 2 x 2 evenings babysitting as this task is included in their duties.

As with all usual placements, au pair couples work 25 hours per week and would expect to receive £75 - £80 each per week, full board and lodging and two free days per week.  They must have their own  bedroom (which they can share together) and be allowed to attend English classes and/or religious services.

The Placement fee for a couple is £650

Information For Couples

All couples who wish to apply must both meet the following criteria:

• Be aged between 21 - 30

• Must have conversant English

• Must be available for minimum 1 year or longer

• One half of the couple, usually the male, must have a full driving licence, though preferably both applicants should drive

• Have experience with children, housework and gardening

• Be willing to accept a position anywhere in the UK
